MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF (Ni–Co)@C NANOCOMPOSITES: EFFECT OF CARBON

Abstract

Nanocomposites (Ni–Co)@C with different Ni:Co ratios and core-shell structure were obtained by gasphase synthesis. Structural and phase analysis of the samples was carried out using X-ray diffraction and
transmission electron microscopy. The size of the metal core of particles, determined from X-ray data, is (7–8) nm, the shell thickness, several nm. Magnetic properties and 59Co NMR spectra were measured before and after annealing at different temperatures. The evolution of properties and NMR spectra with varying cobalt content and as a result of heat treatments is interpreted in the context of changes in the carbon content in the core of composites.
